Thief Meets Instant Karma in Pak Chong
A 26-year-old thief in Pak Chong discovered the harsh realities of instant karma: moments after snatching a handbag from an 18-year-old, he collided with a pickup on his motorcycle and ended up severely injured in hospital. Police are now investigating the dramatic incident.
Robbery and Crash Within Seconds
Shortly before midnight on 21 September, Pak Chong police were called to the scene of an accident: a thief had stolen a handbag from a young woman and, barely 100 metres away, crashed head-on into a black pickup truck.
The suspect, Mr. Wanchana, 26, lay unconscious at the roadside when officers arrived. The victim, Ms. June, 18, escaped uninjured but visibly shaken. She told police that the man had circled her and her friends several times, apparently looking for a target.
40 Baht Loot and Immediate Disaster
Ms. June grew cautious: “I put my money in my pocket and left only 40 Baht in the handbag,” she told police. Moments later, Wanchana snatched the bag and sped off—but his escape ended abruptly. He crashed into a pickup, launching himself into the air.
Emergency responders provided first aid and transported the seriously injured thief to Pak Chong Nana Hospital. Police secured the stolen handbag and interviewed witnesses, all confirming Wanchana’s role in the robbery.
Thief Held Under Police Guard
Wanchana remains under police supervision in the hospital. Once fit for questioning, he faces charges for theft and causing a road accident. Authorities are currently reviewing CCTV footage to reconstruct the events in detail.
For Ms. June, the ordeal ended relatively lightly: she lost only 40 Baht—and gained a story to tell for life. “That’s karma,” commented an eyewitness. “Sometimes justice catches up faster than you expect.”
