PATHUM THANI, Thailand – A police officer has been found dead at a traffic checkpoint.
His body was discovered on June 16, 2026, inside a traffic control booth at a busy intersection. The officer sustained a gunshot wound to the head, and a weapon was found in his right hand.
Body Found Near Well-Known School
The grim discovery took place in the Mueang district, within the greater Bangkok metropolitan area. The control booth is situated at the Pathumwilai intersection, mere meters away from a well-known school.
Responding officers from the Mueang Pathum Thani police station and volunteers from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation rushed to the scene. They were met with a tragic sight.
Firearm Secured – Many Questions Remain
Initial findings suggest the officer died from a head wound. A firearm was found in his right hand.
Authorities have so far withheld the identity of the deceased. It remains unclear whether the incident was a homicide or a suicide.

Police cordoned off the area extensively. Forensic technicians and relevant authorities are now tasked with clarifying the exact sequence of events.
