SRI RACHA, THAILAND – A motorcyclist in Sri Racha was critically injured after a high-speed overtake on the left ended in a collision with a pickup and a violent impact with a house wall.
High-speed maneuver caught on camera
The crash occurred on 23 February 2026 at around 3:45 p.m. in front of a tire shop on Highway 9 Kilometer Road (Road No. 7) in Sri Racha district, Chonburi province. According to police, CCTV footage clearly showed the rider attempting to overtake a turning pickup at high speed on the left, losing control and crashing.
Scene findings and vehicle damage
Rescue workers from the Sawang Prateep Sri Racha Foundation reported that a motorcycle had collided with a pickup, leaving one person with life-threatening injuries. At the scene, responders found a black Isuzu Highlander on the roadside, its front left fender marked by visible scratches and long scrape damage.
Rider critically hurt, pickup driver unharmed
The pickup’s driver, identified by police only under the pseudonym “Mr. Dew”, was uninjured and waited at the scene for officers to arrive. Nearby, the motorcyclist, described as a middle-aged man, lay unconscious on the roadway and had to be stabilized by emergency medics before transport.
Severe injuries and hospital transfer
Rescue personnel reported a major head injury, abrasions across the body and a suspected fracture of the rider’s right ring finger. He was then rushed to Laem Chabang Hospital for further emergency treatment.
Pickup driver’s account of the crash
The pickup driver told officers at the Sri Racha Police Station that he had been on his way to the tire shop to have his tires changed and had slowed down in preparation for the turn. He stated that he had activated his left turn signal and checked his mirrors before starting to turn.
“I did not see any vehicle coming from behind, then suddenly the motorcycle came past me on the left at high speed, brushed the front, hit a decorative pole in front of the shop, skidded across the road and slammed into the house wall,”
said Mr. Dew, pickup driver.
CCTV footage supports driver’s version
According to police, CCTV images from the area backed up this account by showing the pickup already slowing and beginning to turn when the motorcycle moved out from behind on the left to overtake. The footage showed the motorcycle touching the pickup’s left front, striking a decorative flagpole and then crashing with great force into the nearby house wall, causing the rider’s severe injuries.
Ongoing police investigation
Officers from the Sri Racha Police Station collected evidence at the scene, documented the damage and secured the video recordings as proof. While the injured rider was being treated in hospital, the pickup driver was summoned to the station for further questioning to clarify the exact circumstances of the accident.
