PATTAYA, THAILAND – Two men were injured after a modified motorcycle and a bicycle collided on Sukhumvit Road early this morning.

On May 31, around 6:16 AM, a blue, modified sidecar motorcycle and a bicycle collided on Sukhumvit Road, heading into the city towards Sattahip, near the traffic light at the Rong Po intersection. The Sawang Boriboon Thammasat Pattaya Rescue Centre and police responded to the scene. They found the motorcycle lying on its right side.

The 53-year-old motorcycle driver, identified only as Mr. So with unconfirmed nationality, sustained a gash to his head and a serious injury to his right ankle. The 44-year-old cyclist, Pongsak Kitiraj, suffered abrasions to his body. Both men received initial treatment at the scene before being transported to a local hospital.

A witness told police that the motorcycle had attempted to overtake on the right before suddenly swerving left, leading to the collision. The witness stopped to assist the injured and called for rescue services. Due to the early darkness, it was unclear whether the bicycle was traveling in the same direction or re-entering the road.

Officers secured the overturned motorcycle and discovered several beer cans on the roadway. The police are now investigating whether alcohol consumption played a role and have not yet made any statements regarding charges or fault. The incident is under active investigation.
