SICHON, NAKHON SI THAMMARAT – A 56-year-old mentally disabled man was found dead in a temple pavilion, a death now confirmed as murder due to massive blunt force trauma at the scene. Police are pursuing the perpetrator and are examining surveillance footage for clues.

An emergency call was received early on June 27, shortly before 7 a.m., reporting an unresponsive body at Wat Than Nam Cha in Nakhon Si Thammarat province. Police Lieutenant Nitirat Lapbun responded with an investigative team from the Sichon Police Station and personnel from the Phetkasem Nakhon Si Thammarat Foundation.
Officers discovered the man lying face down on a concrete edge within the temple’s pavilion, wearing a green short-sleeved shirt and black shorts. Noteworthy were a laceration on his forehead and a wound to the back of his head, indicating significant violence.

The deceased was identified as Sakchai Jomrit, widely known as “Sak Taladsuk.” The 56-year-old, who was mentally disabled, had resided at Wat Than Nam Cha for a considerable time. Monks and local villagers remembered him as an amiable and harmless individual.
He had no known disputes, which led his relatives to question any initial assumptions of an accidental death. The family’s doubts spurred authorities to conduct a more thorough investigation.

On June 29, 2029, the autopsy report confirmed that massive blunt force trauma was the cause of death. Police Major Suriya Srichalam and Police Colonel Surasak Rodkrai subsequently declared the incident a homicide.

Detectives from the Sichon Police Station revisited the crime scene to collect further evidence and initiated a comprehensive review of all surveillance cameras in the vicinity of the temple. The identity of the attacker remains unknown, and the precise motive behind the killing is still unclear. The police are continuing their investigation with the aim of identifying and apprehending the suspect for prosecution.
