AYUTTHAYA, THAILAND – Thai police led by General Samran Nualma seized 10 million methamphetamine tablets in a warehouse raid in Ayutthaya, uncovering one of the largest drug caches of the year worth over 500 million Baht.
Warehouse raid in Ban Luang
On 12 November, General Samran Nualma, Chief of the national narcotics division, led a coordinated operation involving dozens of officers in Ban Luang, Ayutthaya Province. Police forces stormed a warehouse following several weeks of surveillance.
“50 sacks full with methamphetamine pills,”
said Unnamed Police Spokesperson, confirming the seizure of 10 million Yaba tablets.
Officers arrested Merin (33) and Sirirat (33) at the warehouse. Both were charged with possession and trafficking of narcotics, carrying severe penalties under Thai law.
High-speed pursuit near temple
During the same operation, a separate police team pursued a suspicious vehicle linked to the network. The driver abandoned the car near a temple in Ayutthaya, leaving behind an additional 2 million tablets.
“The men who helped here call themselves only Mr. A and Mr. B,”
said Arrested Suspects Merin and Sirirat. Police initiated a manhunt to locate the two male accomplices.
Network traced to border regions
Authorities confirmed that the drugs originated from Thailand’s border regions before entering Central Thailand. Intelligence units tracked the group for weeks prior to the raid.
“The drugs came from the border areas and were meant for distribution in central Thailand,”
said General Samran Nualma, outlining the cross-regional scope of the smuggling ring.
The Ayutthaya warehouse served as a major transit hub, authorities said, for redistribution of illegal substances further inland.
Assets worth 500 million Baht seized
Investigators confiscated three cars, one motorcycle, and multiple financial holdings, estimating total assets at about 500 million Baht (approximately 12.5 million euros). Police confirmed all seized property would be traced for money-laundering evidence.
“We follow the financial trails,”
said Lead Investigator, Narcotics Division, confirming that possible masterminds were still being identified.
Ongoing anti-drug push
The Matichon report described the bust as a major blow to regional narcotics operations. Experts estimated that the loss of 12 million pills—10 million from the warehouse and 2 million from the car—had disrupted the network’s supply chain.
“This strike hits the network severely,”
said Unnamed Expert, adding that wider cooperation between police units would continue.
All confiscated evidence and the two arrested suspects were transferred to the Special Patrol Division for further investigation. The case remained open with cross-provincial coordination under General Samran’s command.
