PHUKET, THAILAND – A luxury villa in Rawai has been reduced to rubble following its rental to a British citizen, prompting the owner to file a police report with damages exceeding 300,000 Baht. Police are now reviewing compelling video material and a peculiar discovery made at the property.
Inspection on June 6th Overflows the Cup
Nattakan Hankeaw, acting on behalf of the villa’s owner, Talaticha Loney, detailed the events to news outlet Mati Press Online. The high-end property in Phuket’s Mueang district had been rented to a British national named Farah Hashi since March.
A routine check on June 4th revealed no issues. However, two days later, during a subsequent inspection on June 6th, those responsible were confronted with a scene of devastation. Numerous items inside the villa were found to be severely damaged.
Surveillance Camera Filmed in the Evening
Recordings from the property’s CCTV system are expected to be of paramount importance for investigators at the Chalong Police Station. According to Nattakan, the cameras allegedly captured the British tenant causing damage in several rooms at approximately 8:00 PM on June 4th.
The exact actions depicted in the footage were not detailed by Mati Press. These recordings have now become part of the evidence submitted by the owner to the police.
Laughing Gas Equipment Discovered in Devastated Villa
During the inspection of the chaotic villa, those present made a significant discovery. Equipment believed to be used for inhaling nitrous oxide was seized.
Authorities are now investigating whether there is a connection between the consumption of this substance and the extensive damage. This find could further exacerbate the already serious accusations against the tenant.
High Prison Sentence Looms
Under Section 358 of the Thai Criminal Code, intentional property damage can result in severe penalties. If convicted, the accused tenant faces up to three years’ imprisonment, a fine of up to 60,000 Baht, or both.
As of now, the police have not filed any formal charges. Investigators are continuing to gather evidence to determine the precise course of action against the British national.
Separate Incident with Rampaging Brit in May
The current incidents shed light on a similar case from May. At that time, a British man in Phuket allegedly lost control, slashing the seats of several motorcycles and damaging a shop sign with a knife.
Whether the man involved in the May incident is the same tenant, Farah Hashi, remains unclear in Mati Press’s reporting. The police have not commented on this potential connection.
Police Evidence Gathering Underway
The owner has submitted all evidence, including the video recordings, to the Chalong Police Station. Officers are meticulously reviewing the material before initiating further legal steps.
