LAEM CHABANG, THAILAND – An ultra-luxury superyacht from the Ritz-Carlton fleet docked at Laem Chabang deep-sea port, underscoring the region’s growing role in high-end cruise routes.
Superyacht Luminara berths at key deep-sea port
The superyacht “Luminara”, sailing under the Maltese flag and operated by The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection, arrived at around 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at the C0 terminal of Laem Chabang port. The modern deep-sea port in Chonburi province, near Pattaya, served as a central hub for freight and increasingly also for cruise ships in the region.
Immigration and customs clearance ran smoothly
Entry and customs formalities for the 384 crew members and passengers were overseen by officers from the Chonburi Immigration Bureau. Colonel Naphatphong Khosit Suriyamanee was present on site and coordinated the processing.
According to the authorities, entry procedures went smoothly and immigration and customs checks were completed quickly to give guests rapid access to their excursion programs.
Route from Koh Samui to Thailand’s east coast
The Luminara arrived from Koh Samui, a well-known holiday island in the Gulf of Thailand, where the vessel had already been processed by the responsible immigration authorities in Surat Thani. From Laem Chabang, passengers were scheduled to depart on sightseeing tours in Chonburi province and to nearby tourist destinations.
The region was particularly known for its beaches, leisure activities and short stays by international visitors.
New flagship in the premium cruise segment
The Luminara, built in 2025, was one of the newest vessels in the Ritz-Carlton fleet and offered exclusive suites for up to 452 guests. The ship was designed for an intimate, high-end cruise experience.
According to the operator, the concept focused on a particularly personal atmosphere and a limited number of places compared with classic large cruise ships, clearly targeting a premium and luxury clientele.
Strategic signal for Thailand as a cruise destination
The call of the Luminara at Laem Chabang was seen as an indication of the country’s growing appeal, and especially that of the east coast, as part of international deep-sea cruise routes in Southeast Asia. Authorities viewed such calls as an opportunity to create additional value in tourism regions like Chonburi and surrounding coastal towns.
They particularly highlighted the potential for additional income for local service providers, greater international visibility for the cruise location and the strengthening of premium tourism offerings. The arrival of the Luminara thus fitted into the strategy of positioning Laem Chabang not only as a freight hub but also as a port of call for high-quality cruise products in the region.
