PATTAYA, THAILAND – Two suspected thieves stole a 55-year-old lottery seller’s Honda Wave 125i outside his rented room in Pattaya, depriving him of his main means of work.
Theft outside the front door
The victim, Nai Saeng Thopho, reported the theft on 13 March after his red Honda Wave 125i with the licence plate 4กพ 2511 (Chonburi) disappeared during the night.
According to his account, the bike was taken in front of his accommodation in Soi Sukhumvit Pattaya 46/3, an area with regular local traffic rather than a secluded backyard.
CCTV shows two helmeted young men
CCTV footage showed two young men arriving on a scooter without a licence plate and first circling the parking area.
One then got off, kicked the locked handlebar of the Honda, broke the steering lock and manoeuvred the motorcycle out, while his accomplice helped push it away quickly.
Discovered in the morning and reported to police
According to the victim, he and his girlfriend returned from selling lottery tickets shortly after midnight and went upstairs to sleep.
It was only around 6 a.m. that his girlfriend noticed during laundry that the motorcycle was missing, prompting them to review nearby cameras and discover the scene.
Complaint filed, but no feedback
Nai Saeng Thopho filed a complaint at Pattaya City Police Station and handed over video evidence along with further details about the suspects and the sequence of events.
He told local media that, up to the time of his public appeal, no investigator had contacted him and no site inspection had taken place.
Livelihood pressure with bike still on instalments
The situation was particularly bitter for him because the motorcycle was still being paid for in instalments and was essential for his work as a mobile lottery seller.
Without the vehicle, he now had to cover longer distances on foot and rely on public transport to get home, which further reduced his already modest income.
Pattaya’s ongoing problem with two-wheeler thefts
The man called on the police to quickly identify the suspects and recover the vehicle, saying such brazen thefts were, in his view, increasing in the area.
Motorcycle theft had long been seen in Pattaya as a recurring nuisance, with residents repeatedly sharing CCTV clips and appeals for information, while clearance and recovery rates were perceived as low and authorities in this case had so far not commented publicly.
