PATTAYA, THAILAND – A 33-year-old Japanese tourist filed a complaint with Pattaya police after he said a transgender woman attacked him in his hotel room, caused property damage and stole about 11,000 baht.
Contact in the early hours on Walking Street
Police identified the complainant only as Mr. Ichiki, who spoke to officers through an interpreter. He stated that he met the suspect on Walking Street in South Pattaya between 4 a.m. and 5 a.m. on 13 March.
According to his account, they agreed on a massage for 1,000 baht. They then went together to his hotel in the Nongprue area near Pattaya City.
Dispute after missing cash discovered
In the room, the tourist noticed after taking a shower that about 2,000 baht was missing from his wallet. A dispute then broke out between him and the suspect.
When he tried to escort the woman out of the room, she became aggressive according to his statement. She allegedly kicked and damaged the glass door of the room.
Tourist leaves room, more cash missing
The man then left the room, leaving around 9,000 baht in cash behind. According to his description, the suspect took this money as well.
Additional damage occurred in the room, and his mobile phone was reportedly broken. The total loss from stolen cash and damaged items amounted to several thousand baht, according to the tourist.
CCTV footage as key evidence
The tourist handed hotel surveillance footage to Pattaya police and to reporters present at the station. The video allegedly showed the suspect’s face clearly.
Officers were reviewing the footage as part of the investigation. The agency stated that it was collecting further evidence and proceeding under relevant sections covering bodily harm, theft and property damage.
A suspect had not yet been arrested at the time the complaint was filed. Police said the case would continue once more material had been evaluated.
Similar cases in recent weeks
This incident was not isolated, according to local reports. In recent weeks, several similar cases involving attacks on tourists of various nationalities in Pattaya had been reported.
In those earlier incidents, suspects were arrested after alleged assaults on visitors. Police reportedly responded by stepping up monitoring of Walking Street and nearby hotel areas.
It was not known whether the current suspect was connected to any previous cases. Investigators said they were still examining possible links.
Police continue manhunt
The search for the suspect was ongoing. Pattaya police called on potential informants to come forward with any information.
Further details were expected after officers completed their review of the CCTV footage. The complainant was advised to remain available for possible additional questioning.
An interpreter continued to assist him during the investigation.
