PATTAYA, THAILAND – A 56-year-old Iranian man was arrested by immigration police in Pattaya on an attempted murder warrant after allegedly ramming a rival’s motorcycle with his car and seriously injuring him before fleeing.
Arrest in Bang Lamung on court warrant
Immigration officers detained Babak Khajesamanni on 13 February at around 5:30 p.m. in Bang Lamung district of Chon Buri province, police reported. The operation was based on an arrest warrant previously issued by Pattaya Provincial Court, which was shown to the suspect after he was taken into custody.
Police leadership and joint investigation
The arrest was carried out under the direction of Pol Col Naphatphong Khositsuriyamanee, head of the Chon Buri Immigration Office, and Pol Lt Col Kawinwat Arayasuriwong, his deputy. Other officers, including Pol Lt Col Kittiphat Hongchuwech, Pol Capt Wirat Pattamawong and Pol Lt Pramot Fuengfung, worked with the Pattaya Tourist Police to pursue indications of offences committed by foreign nationals.
Stakeout at Nong Prue hideout
Authorities said they had received information that Khajesamanni was hiding in a house in Nong Prue subdistrict. After covert surveillance, officers observed the suspect leaving the building and arrested him shortly afterwards, when he admitted he was the person named in the warrant and had not previously been apprehended.
Allegations of attempted murder and serious harm
According to the warrant, Khajesamanni was accused of attempted murder as well as causing physical and psychological harm and damaging another person’s property. Investigators stated that the case stemmed from a prolonged dispute with a rival described as a man of mixed heritage.
High-speed collision in Soi Thepprasit 8/3
Police said the two men met by chance in Soi Thepprasit 8/3 while Khajesamanni was driving a car. The Iranian allegedly spotted his rival on a motorcycle and then rammed him at high speed with his vehicle, leaving the victim seriously injured while the driver left the scene.
Transfer for further legal proceedings
After his arrest, Khajesamanni was first taken to the Chon Buri Immigration Office in Pattaya for questioning and formal recording of the arrest. Officers then handed him over to the responsible investigator to pursue further criminal proceedings under national law.
Targeted crackdown on foreign suspects
Immigration police said the detention resulted from intelligence-led operations aimed at locating foreign suspects within their jurisdiction. They added that these measures were in line with directives from higher police leadership to step up action against foreign offenders in tourist-oriented areas.
