Icelandic Man Arrested for Wild Pickup Drift in Chon Buri

Icelandic man sparks outrage with dangerous drifting in Thailand

An Icelandic man faces arrest in Chon Buri after being caught on video drifting a rented Ford Raptor pickup truck, sending shockwaves through the local community.

Social media erupts over reckless pickup truck stunt

Motorists capture the wild scene as the orange Ford Raptor skids around the Bang Saen Roundabout in heavy rain. Clips quickly go viral, showing the foreign driver performing dangerous drifts at busy intersections and roundabouts.

In one video, a passenger in a white T-shirt leans out of the window, adding to the chaos. Locals express outrage, and the footage draws swift attention from news outlets.

Police track down Icelandic suspect after viral videos

Saen Suk Police trace the pickup to a Thai woman who owns the rental vehicle. She tells officers the truck was rented by her regular Icelandic client, who has used it for over two years without incident.

“I was shocked to see the videos,” she admits. She claims the man told her a friend was behind the wheel during the stunts.

Based on her information, police arrest the Icelandic suspect at his accommodation in Chon Buri. Authorities have yet to reveal the exact charges or penalties he will face.

The main charge is likely a violation of Section 43(3) of the Land Transport Act for reckless and dangerous driving. This offence carries a fine between 400 and 1,000 baht, though the final amount depends on police discretion.

Chon Buri has seen similar incidents before. In January, a Lithuanian man received a 12,000-baht fine for drifting his BMW at an intersection. Last month, police in Phuket arrested another foreign driver for drifting a white pickup outside a convenience store.
