Shock in Rayong as foreign driver sparks collision chaos
Residents of Ban Chang, Rayong, are still reeling. Onlookers watched in disbelief as a foreign man, driving a black sedan, triggered a series of shocking crashes before vanishing without a trace.
First, the suspect ploughed into a motorbike, then into a white parked car. Without stopping, he sped straight into three roadside restaurants—injuring two people, police confirm.
Restaurant owner left traumatised by wild crash
Thipsuda Wayruwanarak, 44, a restaurant owner, was left shaken. She reported the terrifying ordeal to Ban Chang police.
She says, ‘My husband and I only just dodged the car by jumping away.’ Thipsuda had been preparing takeaway food with her staff when the incident erupted. She revealed one of her employees suffered injuries, though out of respect she did not share details.
TV footage reveals heartbreak and destruction
Channel 8 broadcast the disaster as it unfolded. Cameras captured victims screaming while the rogue driver smashed through tables and chairs.
Miraculously, no customers were seated in the restaurants at that moment. ‘We hadn’t set up tables outside that day,’ Thipsuda adds, visibly relieved.
Pattern of reckless driving emerged
Later, Thipsuda learned more details from witnesses. Another motorcyclist told her the foreign driver had already hit a female biker, leaving her with a broken leg, at the Ban Prachummit crossroads moments earlier.
Instead of helping, the man sped off. Within moments, he’d caused the second spate of accidents at the restaurants.
Police vow action as manhunt intensifies
Officers in Ban Chang are now hunting the foreigner. ‘We will identify the suspect and summon him for questioning,’ a police official promises.
They warn the fugitive faces tough penalties. In Thailand, fleeing a crash scene and causing injury carries severe consequences.
Dark history of foreign drivers in Rayong
This isn’t the first time Rayong has seen disaster at the hands of an expat driver. In April 2025, a foreigner died in a multi-vehicle collision involving his SUV, a lorry and a motorcycle.
That crash left two Thai bikers seriously wounded.
