PHUKET, THAILAND – Three Thai teenagers were injured in Sakhu after a foreign driver crossed into oncoming traffic and rammed their motorcycle, with police treating the crash as a case of negligence.
Afternoon crash in Sakhu
The collision occurred on 8 April at around 3:15 p.m. in the subdistrict of Sakhu, Thalang, on Phuket. Three Thai teenagers on a motorcycle were injured in the crash.
According to police, the impact happened when a car crossed the center line and struck an oncoming motorcycle. The injured youths received medical treatment following the incident.
CCTV captures moment of impact
Surveillance footage shared on 9 April by the page “Phuket Times” showed a sedan crossing the lane markings just before the collision. Investigators secured the video as evidence.
In addition to the footage, police collected further traces at the scene and towed the vehicles involved to Sakhu Police Station for examination.
Police identify driver and vehicle
Sakhu Police Chief Pol. Col. Salan Santisatsanakul identified the driver as a 29-year-old named Michael, who had been operating a Toyota Yaris Ativ. No details were initially released about any injuries to the driver himself.
Police stated that legal proceedings were under way in connection with the case.
Seriously injured passenger needs blood donations
At least one of the injured was reported to be in more serious condition. Vachira Phuket Hospital accepted public blood donations of all types to support treatment.
The appeal for donors was circulated via the “Phuket Times” page and addressed residents in the surrounding area.
Car slams into restaurant after collision
After striking the motorcycle, the car continued forward and crashed into a nearby restaurant, causing additional property damage. Investigators reviewed all available evidence before forming their assessment.
They concluded that crossing the center line directly led to the collision, and classified the incident as having been caused by negligence.
Similar Chalong case leaves one dead
In a separate incident on Phuket, a foreign woman driving in Chalong collided with two motorcycles. A Thai man died in that crash, while another motorcyclist was injured.
The car involved veered into the opposite lane and rammed a roadside obstacle. Other road users provided first aid and alerted authorities, and police launched an investigation into this case as well.
