BANGKOK, THAILAND – A 49-year-old woman was found dead after a violent attack in a room in Phasi Charoen district, and her 58-year-old ex-husband was arrested at the scene.
Body discovered in Soi Thoet Thai 82
Police from Bang Khun Thian Police Station responded on 8 March to an emergency call at a room in Soi Thoet Thai 82. Officers found the woman’s body lying on a bed.
The victim was identified as Winatsada, aged 49. Initial findings at the scene indicated that she had died as a result of the injuries she had sustained.
Suspect detained at the scene
The alleged perpetrator, Saisamorn (58), was arrested at the scene. He was employed by the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration in the waste disposal sector.
Investigators collected evidence and opened a murder investigation. Details about the weapon were being examined as part of the ongoing inquiries.
Suspect describes dispute after night out on Rama 2
During questioning, Saisamorn stated that the incident developed after a night out with his ex-wife at an entertainment venue in the Rama 2 area. According to him, they left the venue at around 4:00 a.m. and returned to his room.
He told officers that an argument then broke out, during which he attacked the woman. Investigators believed she died in the room.
Divorce registered in December 2025, contact continued
According to police, the couple officially registered their divorce in December 2025 after having lived apart for some time. Despite this, they remained in contact and visited each other occasionally.
The room where the killing took place belonged to the suspect. Police said the woman lived in another room in the same building, just two doors away.
New relationship examined as possible motive
The victim’s daughter from a previous relationship told officers the pair had been together for more than ten years. She also said the man knew that the woman had begun a new relationship.
Investigators were examining whether jealousy played a role in the suspected motive. Witnesses and relatives were continuing to be questioned.
Murder charge and court appearance
According to Matichon, police charged Saisamorn with murder and initially held him in custody at Bang Khun Thian Police Station. Authorities said the suspect was to be brought before the Thonburi Criminal Court on 9 March for a pre-trial detention hearing.
