PHUKET, THAILAND – Police in Patong detained a 43-year-old Russian tourist on Sai Nam Yen Road for public drunkenness during mid-morning business hours.

At 10:30 a.m. on Sai Nam Yen Road in Patong, adjacent to a local gold shop, officers from the Patong Police Station responded to several calls about a man causing a disturbance near a roadside canal. According to police, the man appeared severely intoxicated and frightened passersby in the busy commercial area.
“He was a danger to himself and others.”
said a Patong Police officer.
The 43-year-old Russian national was taken into custody without resistance. Police confirmed that he will face charges for public intoxication, an offense punishable under Thai law.
