CHIANG RAI, THAILAND – Cyber police in Chiang Saen arrested a couple accused of running an online gambling portal that allegedly turned over about 360 million baht in a year despite operating for only around five months.
Raid in Chiang Saen with court warrant
On 21 March, officers from the Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau (CCIB) executed a search warrant issued by the Chiang Rai Provincial Court at a house in Ban San That, Tambon Yonok, in Chiang Saen district.
The operation led to the arrest of Thatthana Srichomchuen, 27, and his wife Nattnicha Namwiset, also 27, both residents of Chiang Rai province.
Seized computers seen as key evidence
During the search, investigators seized two desktop computers, three notebooks and two mobile phones from the property.
According to the officers, such devices were considered crucial because they could contain access to marketing tools, payment flows, chat histories with players and administrative interfaces of the platform.
How investigators described SUPERWIN
Investigators stated that the SUPERWIN portal had registered more than 12,000 members and had been operating online for over five months.
The site was said to have offered various forms of online gambling, including lottery, slots, foreign football betting, baccarat, Tiger-Dragon, Hi-Lo and additional games.
Cash flows through automated bank transfers
According to police, deposits for gambling were made via an automated bank account system that processed transfers without manual approval.
Payouts could reportedly be initiated directly by users through the website, while administrators assisted with registration, transactions and gaming support or resolved problems.
Investigation trail led to Chiang Rai base
Police said the case began with an assessment by the CCIB Region 4 investigative team, which identified the website as active and heavily frequented.
Evidence was then collected, reinforcing the suspicion that the operational base was in Chiang Rai province, before the court issued the search warrant.
Admissions about roles and pay
According to interrogation records, Thatthana admitted he had worked as a marketing administrator, using advertisements to draw customers to the portal.
He said he received 35 percent of the website’s monthly income and claimed to have earned more than 100,000 baht in peak months, while his wife handled customer support and income-expense accounting for 20,000 baht per month.
Charges over alleged illegal gambling promotion
Police initiated legal proceedings on suspicion that the couple had jointly induced, advertised to or recruited others, directly or indirectly, to participate in unlawful online gambling.
Both suspects were placed in custody while further proceedings were carried out under the relevant provisions.
