PATTAYA, THAILAND – A British tourist was left without money, documents or luggage after a hotel theft, before the local Tourist Police arranged emergency support and his onward journey to Bangkok.
Hotel theft leaves visitor stranded
The man had checked into a hotel in Pattaya on 18 February 2026 at around 1 p.m., and later discovered that his mobile phone, passport and luggage were missing from the property. According to the Pattaya Tourist Police, he suspected that the theft might have been carried out by someone from within the accommodation.
CCTV review and formal police report
The tourist reviewed the hotel’s CCTV footage and then filed an official complaint to have the incident and the suspected criminal offence formally recorded by the police. Officers stated that this report would form the basis for further investigations, while they simultaneously worked to ease the traveller’s immediate emergency situation.
Without cash or ID, appeal for embassy help
As he had no money, identity documents or means to pay his ongoing expenses, the man told officers that he urgently wished to return to the United Kingdom as soon as possible. He explicitly asked the authorities for assistance in establishing contact with the British embassy.
Tourist Police and TAC organise onward travel
Officers from the Tourist Police quickly contacted the embassy, whose representatives confirmed they would support the man and asked him to come to their office in person to apply for emergency travel documents if needed. To ensure his safe onward journey to Bangkok, the Tourist Police and the Tourist Assistance Center (TAC) escorted him to the bus station and provided initial financial support to cover his travel costs.
Police underline commitment to visitor welfare
The Pattaya Tourist Police stressed in a statement that they were committed to the welfare of visitors and ready to intervene quickly in difficult situations.
“Travellers who urgently need help should call the hotline 1155 or use the TPB APP and POLICE CARE applications to receive rapid assistance.”
said Pattaya Tourist Police, in their public guidance for tourists.
