RAYONG, Thailand – A runner-up in the Miss Thailand Phuket 2026 beauty pageant has made serious allegations against a sponsor of the competition. The man is accused of sexually harassing her in a hotel room and attempting to rape her. The young woman reportedly defended herself using Muay Thai techniques, prompting the accused to flee.
Trust in Sponsor Turns into Nightmare
The complainant had traveled to Rayong to thank sponsors who had supported her in various competitions. The accused, known only by the pseudonym “Mike,” is described as a man in his 50s, the owner of a large durian farm, and the primary sponsor of the Miss Thailand Phuket pageant.
Mike had booked a hotel room for the young woman in the Nikhom Phatthana district, as she was scheduled to film a commercial in Ban Chang the following day. The situation escalated on the evening of June 25, 2026.
Entering the Bathroom Naked – Then She Fought Back
According to the 27-year-old’s statement, Mike entered the bathroom naked while she was showering and attempted to harass her. She defended herself using techniques from Muay Thai. The assailant fled the room, and the woman sustained injuries during her defense.
Hotel Staff Mistook Her for Drunk
Following the incident, the complainant sought assistance from hotel staff. However, instead of receiving support, the police were called. The young woman stated that she was treated as if she were drunk and causing a disturbance.
Hotel staff later told investigators that they initially believed the two were a couple. It only became clear that something was wrong when the woman requested medical help. The hotel reiterated that the safety of all guests is paramount.
CCTV Footage Under Scrutiny
Officials from the Nikhom Phatthana Police Station are reviewing the hotel’s surveillance footage and interviewing witnesses. No charges have been filed to date. The accusations have not yet been legally examined, and investigations are ongoing.
