SRI RACHA, THAILAND – Police in Chonburi Province arrested convicted gun offender Jettada Hongsakul, known locally as ‘Ice Huai Yai Phrom’, after a two-hour armed standoff in Sri Racha District on 14 November 2025. Officers acted on a warrant following a reported assault at a convenience store near Wat Rai Kluay the previous day.
Armed raid on Bang Phra residence
At 07:00 local time, around 20 investigators from the Sri Racha Police Station surrounded the suspect’s home in Moo 4, Bang Phra subdistrict under a court-issued search warrant. When shown the document, Jettada locked himself in his bedroom, threw an object resembling a handgun out the window, and rushed out holding a cutter knife. The discarded item was later identified as a black magazine-fed softair pistol.
Police established a perimeter while Jettada barricaded himself in an area previously used as a tire workshop. He inflicted a head wound on himself and threatened to harm officers if they advanced.
Negotiations and intervention
For over two hours, tactical teams and police negotiators worked with the suspect’s grandmother in an attempt to de-escalate the situation.
“He shifted between crying, screaming and bursts of rage,”
said a police investigator.
When the suspect briefly lowered his knife, special forces officers breached the barricaded room, disarmed him, and secured his arrest without gunfire. Emergency responders from the Sawang Prateep Foundation treated his self-inflicted cuts before he was transported into custody.
Weapons and drugs discovered
A full search of the property revealed multiple prohibited items, including:
• Dozens of psychiatric medication tablets scattered on the floor
• One additional softair gun
• One homemade short-barreled shotgun
• One unidentified firearm
• The cutter knife used during the standoff
All weapons and related evidence were seized for further forensic inspection by Chonburi provincial investigators.
Repeat offenses since early release
Police records confirmed that in May 2024, Jettada gained nationwide notoriety after live-streaming his escape following several local shootings and threats against residents, including minors. He was convicted for illegal gun possession, public firearm misuse, and assault and served approximately four months in prison before being released earlier this year. Authorities stated he had resumed carrying weapons in public shortly after release.
New inquiry into weapon access and mental care
As of 15 November 2025, the suspect remained at Sri Racha Police Station for interrogation. Investigators are assessing how he reobtained firearms and whether his psychiatric treatment plan had lapsed. Police officials in Chonburi said coordination with mental health institutions will be tightened in similar cases to prevent future recidivism.
