Panic sweeps through Sungai Kolok, Narathiwat, after eight armed men storm a gold shop inside a bustling shopping mall. The gang, carrying guns, takes hostages and escapes with nearly all the gold on display.
Police confirm the robbery happens at 6:30pm on October 5, 2568. Pol Col Jetsadavit Inpraphan, chief of Sungai Kolok Police Station, receives the emergency call. The gold shop, located inside a major department store on Prachawiwat Road, becomes the scene of chaos.
Hostages seized as gunmen strike in broad daylight
The gang acts with chilling precision. They point guns at the security guard, forcing him out of his booth. The robbers seize his walkie-talkie and order everyone to stay still.
“They told us not to resist,” a witness says. The gunmen then sweep through the shop, grabbing almost all the gold jewellery from the display cases.
Shooting leaves officer wounded in Sungai Kolok mall
During the raid, a gunman opens fire. Sgt Burisorn Radachai, a weapons specialist from the 408th military unit, is hit. He suffers three gunshot wounds—one to the neck, one to the right chest, and one to the leg—while shopping for supplies.
The gang also takes a hostage, Jeerasak Pornni, 30, before releasing him unharmed. The violence leaves shoppers and staff in shock.
Getaway and chaos on Sungai Kolok streets
After the robbery, the gang flees in an Isuzu D-Max pickup truck. They head towards Su-ngai Padi district. On their escape route, they leave a suspicious gas cylinder near a U-turn and scatter spikes on the road.
Several civilian vehicles suffer flat tyres. Police quickly close off the area to clear the spikes and assist the wounded. Emergency crews rush Sgt Burisorn and others to Sungai Kolok Hospital.

Security cameras capture the gang’s every move. The footage shows them brandishing guns, ordering security to gather, and warning against resistance. Moments later, they storm the gold shop and empty the cases.
Authorities believe the robbers use two stolen pickup trucks—a grey Isuzu D-Max and a Toyota Vigo—taken earlier from local residents. The vehicles belong to residents of Narathiwat and are likely used in the daring heist.
