BANGKOK, Thailand – Thailand remains the most popular destination in Asia for European holidaymakers for the second year running. Bangkok, Koh Samui, and Pattaya all land in the top five most-searched cities.
Agoda’s annual ranking puts Thailand at number one again, based on accommodation searches for travel in July and August. The data covers European users looking for stays across Asia.
Three Thai cities make top five
Bangkok took first place in the city rankings. Koh Samui climbed from fourth last year to third, while Pattaya came in fifth. Bali ranked second, with Tokyo at number four.
Indonesia moved up one spot to second place among the most popular Asian countries. The survey points to worldwide interest in Bali and growing demand for other Indonesian islands.
Japan, Vietnam, and Malaysia follow
Japan stayed in the top three destinations. Vietnam improved from fifth to fourth place, and Malaysia took fifth.
The data shows sustained European appetite for Southeast Asian travel, with multiple destinations seeing increased searches.
German travelers search most for Thailand
Travelers from Germany, France, and the Netherlands led the list of those searching for accommodation in Thailand for the second straight year.
Spain and Italy also ranked among the top five source countries for European searches targeting Thailand.
India sees biggest search jump
Among the 20 most popular destinations, search interest from European travelers for India rose 14 percent compared to last year. That was the strongest growth in the region.
South Korea followed with 13 percent growth, and Vietnam gained 12 percent. The figures show growing interest in travel beyond the main Asian hotspots.
Agoda sees lasting demand
European travelers have made Thailand a staple in their yearly travel plans. The repeated top position and three Thai cities among the five most popular destinations speak to sustained interest.

Agoda offers summer bookings
The survey considered accommodation searches by European travelers on Agoda from April to June. It looked for stays in Asia during the European peak travel season in July and August, a period marked by school holidays and family trips.
