BANG LAMUNG, CHONBURI – Five people were injured in a violent collision between a Honda CR-V and a Toyota Hilux Revo at a railway crossing. The CR-V driver says he missed the signal in the dark.
The crash happened on August 9 on the road along the railway track at the Nong Prue intersection in Bang Lamung district. Both vehicles were heavily damaged and the injured were taken to hospital.
Four injured in Honda CR-V
The Honda CR-V, with Bangkok plates, carried four people. All suffered bruises and body pain from the impact.
Driver Thanatjot, 44, was behind the wheel with two friends and his girlfriend. Rescue workers treated the injured at the scene before rushing them to a nearby hospital.
Pick-up hit on direct lane
The Toyota Hilux Revo, registered in Chonburi, took heavy damage on its left side. Driver Suthin, 57, suffered injuries from the force of the crash.
After the initial report, staff from the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan radio centre in Pattaya and volunteer rescuers rushed to the crash site. They found the CR-V with its front badly crushed and the damaged pick-up nearby.
Driver says he missed the signal
Thanatjot told police he is not from the area. He said the road was dark at the crash site and he simply did not see the railway crossing signal.

As he crossed the track, his car slammed hard into the pick-up which was travelling straight. Five injuries were reported after the crash.
Investigation to determine cause
Emergency crews photographed the scene and kept the images as evidence. The injured will receive treatment until they recover.
Authorities then plan to investigate the exact sequence and cause of the crash. After that, legal steps will follow.
