NONG KHAI, Thailand – A 32-year-old bank employee from Bangkok was arrested at Nong Khai railway station as he tried to leave the country via Laos. He is accused of secretly raising his own credit card limit from 40,000 to 70,000 baht and pocketing the extra cash.
The man arrived by train at Nong Khai station and handed his exit documents to immigration officers. They checked the system and found an arrest warrant against him.
Immigration nabs suspect at exit checkpoint
Immigration officers in Nong Khai detained the suspect around 9 am. They then handed him over to the investigation team for questioning and paperwork.
The arrest followed a warrant issued by the Southern Bangkok Criminal Court on July 27, 2026.
Bank worker says he approved his own raise
During questioning, the man told authorities he worked at a bank headquarters in Bangkok as a second-level credit card approval officer.
He said his job allowed him to approve temporary credit limits and issue new cards. Police believe he used that power to alter his own limit from 40,000 to 70,000 baht and spent the difference on personal expenses.
Bank files complaint after spotting fraud
The bank discovered the irregularities and filed a complaint against its own employee. The charges cover unauthorised alteration of computer data and theft of employer property.
The investigating unit is the Thung Maha Mek police station, which received the case after the court issued the warrant.
Suspect handed over to police
The arrest was carried out by the deputy chief of the Nong Khai Immigration Office, Police Lieutenant Colonel Thiyaphhat Rangsipramnakul, together with the investigation team and station officers.
After questioning, the suspect is to be transferred to the Thung Maha Mek police station for further proceedings.
