Briton dies in sleep after Thai hospital discharge

Kyle Campbell, 32, crashed his motorbike on holiday island and was sent home

BANGKOK, Thailand – A British tourist died in his sleep just days before his wedding in Thailand after being discharged from hospital with an injury.

Kyle Campbell, a 32-year-old plumber from Westhoughton, Bolton, crashed a motorbike on a Thai holiday island. Hours after leaving hospital he died overnight.

Hospital sent him home with injury

The crash left Campbell with an injury. Medics treated him at the hospital but discharged him the same day.

Doctors simply told him to travel to the mainland the next day for further treatment.

Family slams medical care as inadequate

Campbell’s family got the news in the early hours of July 30. He had died in his sleep from the effects of his injuries.

His care was inadequate. His death has shocked everyone who knew and loved him.

said Dianne Fisher, his cousin, on a fundraising platform.

Wedding was days away

Campbell had travelled to Thailand to marry his fiancée Kannika Masasai. The couple had been together for two and a half years, and he visited her regularly.

Kannika is now grieving alongside Campbell’s 12-year-old son.

Death takes the body, but love remains. I will keep you forever in my best memories, my love.

said Kannika Masasai, fiancée.

Donation drive brings in funds for body repatriation

Kyle Campbell’s family launched a fundraising appeal to bring his body back to Britain and cover the funeral. The target of £10,000 was met in no time.

A UK Foreign Office spokesman confirmed support for the relatives. We are assisting the family of a British man who died in Thailand, the official statement said.
