BANGKOK, THAILAND – A grey pickup truck plunged from the Sirat Expressway in the early hours, smashing through a concrete barrier and landing on a construction site. Driver and a young girl were badly injured.
The accident happened on August 2, 2026 at around 4:30am near Rom Ratchathewi Park in the Makkasan district. The pickup was traveling on the Sirat Expressway when it lost control at a Y-junction.
First investigations by traffic police found the vehicle hit a concrete barrier at high speed before plunging onto a construction site below.
Construction worker hears crash and calls rescuers
A construction worker nearby witnessed the scene. He told police he heard a loud impact noise on the expressway before the pickup flew down.
The man saw the badly injured driver climb out of the wreck and found the severely injured child among the debris. He immediately alerted authorities.

Driver and young girl rushed to hospital
Rescue workers arrived to find the completely destroyed pickup lying on its side on a pile of concrete debris. The driver, aged about 30 to 35, was seriously injured.
The girl, aged three to four, was extracted from the wreck in serious condition. Rescuers from the Poh Teck Tung Foundation and the Erawan emergency unit took both victims to hospital.
Traffic police find impact marks at the scene
Officers from Expressway Station 2 and Din Daeng traffic police examined the crash site on the elevated roadway. They found clear impact marks on the concrete barrier at the Y-junction.
Police believe excessive speed caused the crash. The driver likely lost control approaching the fork.
Police await recovery before questioning
The exact cause remains unclear. Investigators plan to interview the driver and child once their condition improves.
Until then, police rely on evidence and the worker’s statement. The construction site remains closed.
