PHUKET, THAILAND – Two women tried to kill themselves by jumping off sea bridges on consecutive days. Police stopped and saved one woman at Sarasin Bridge. The second woman, who jumped from Thao Thep Krasattri Bridge the night before, remains missing.
On Wednesday evening, worried eyewitnesses alerted police at Tha Chatchai station. They spotted a woman behaving suspiciously on Sarasin Bridge.
Desperate woman stopped on Sarasin Bridge
The woman had parked her black Mercedes-Benz C220d with Phuket plates on the bridge. It was unclear what she planned to do. Officers managed to calm her down.
The rescued woman was taken to the police station for further care. There, officers contacted her relatives to provide support.
Mercedes with engine running left on sister bridge
The night before, a similar incident happened on the neighbouring Thao Thep Krasattri Bridge. A woman parked a black Mercedes-Benz C350e with Bangkok plates there and jumped into the sea.
Rescue teams found the vehicle with the engine still running. About five metres from the suspected jump point lay a pair of slippers.
Police contact relatives, sea search continues
Police are still searching for the missing woman who jumped into the sea. The outcome of this intensive search remained unknown at press time.
