Mother Convicted of Prostitution Forcing

Thai woman sentenced to prison for forcing daughter into sex work in Tokyo.

BANGKOK, Thailand – A mother from Phetchabun province has been convicted of forcing her own daughter into prostitution in Tokyo. The court handed down a lengthy prison sentence to the 30-year-old woman, Lucksana, which was later halved due to her confession.

Twelve-year-old left in Tokyo

Between June and September of the previous year, Lucksana left her daughter with the owner of a massage parlor in Tokyo. The young girl was subsequently forced to provide sexual services. In mid-September, the child sought help from the Tokyo Regional Immigration Services Bureau. Officials took the twelve-year-old to safety, and she is now under the care of the Pavena Hongsakul Foundation.

Escape via Taiwan ends in arrest

Lucksana departed Japan in September and traveled to Taiwan. In November, she was apprehended in New Taipei City, arrested by authorities for overstaying her visa. In December, Taiwan extradited the alleged perpetrator to Thailand, where she remained in custody until her trial.

Court drastically reduces sentence

The court initially sentenced the 30-year-old to 15 years in prison. The charges included coercion of a child into prostitution and human trafficking. Due to Lucksana’s guilty plea during the proceedings, the sentence was halved to seven years and six months.

No prior criminal record

The court noted that the woman had no previous criminal record in Thailand. Travel documents indicated she had previously worked abroad as a masseuse. The daughter remains under the care of the Pavena Hongsakul Foundation, with her future to be determined at a later date.
