BANGKOK, Thailand – Rock rebel Sek Loso is set for release, but the “steel fist of the law” will be attached to his ankle from now on. The musician, convicted of illegal firearm possession and drug use, will be released on probation on June 24, 2026, and required to wear an electronic ankle monitor around the clock. His last armed “performance” ended years ago at a temple complex, and now a silent electronic device will dictate his rhythm until his sentence is complete.
From Rockstar to Prisoner with a Training Plan
Seksan Sukpimai, the 48-year-old’s legal name, has been incarcerated since May 2025 at Khao Kling prison, an annex of Phetchaburi Central Prison. Instead of wild stage shows, he participated in the royal “Kamlangjai” project, “Application of the Philosophy of Sufficiency Economy to the Lives of Prisoners.” This program was initiated by Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha.
From January 23 to June 23, 2026, Sek Loso effectively attended classes behind bars. Correctional officers confirmed he adhered to prison discipline and completed the course with the required criteria, earning his ticket back to freedom with an electronic escort.
Five Months of Grace by Decree
Precisely on June 3, 2026, the Royal Decree of Amnesty came into effect. For Sek Loso, this meant a significant reduction in his sentence: five months and 20 days were waived from his original total sentence.
His sentence was thus reduced from two years, twelve months, and 20 days to two years, six months, and 30 days. The new end date for his incarceration is December 13, 2027.
Minister Approves the Request
As early as May 27, 2026, the responsible subcommittee for reviewing sentence suspensions convened and gave the green light for special parole. The final signature was personally affixed by Justice Minister Tawee Sodsong on June 19.
Since then, the countdown has been running at Phetchaburi Central Prison towards the release day, when the electronic monitoring device will be activated on the singer’s leg.
Every Step is Recorded
From June 24 onwards, only one thing will matter for Sek Loso: strict adherence to all parole conditions. The ankle monitor records every movement, ensuring he stays within the approved radius.
Should the rock musician deviate from the rhythm, he faces immediate return to his cell. Until December 13, 2027, he will remain a man under constant digital surveillance.
Temple Shooting as the Spark
The case that brought down the 90s star dates back to December 2017. At that time, Sek Loso allegedlybrandished his weapon in a temple in Nakhon Si Thammarat and fired shots into the air. This incident alerted the police and led to an arrest warrant.
During his arrest at his home, he resisted, and officers discovered an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. He also confessed to drug use. On May 20, 2025, the Supreme Court shattered any hope for leniency, confirming the non-parole prison sentence – at least until the current royal act of grace.
