PATTAYA, THAILAND – A brawl between Thai nationals and foreign tourists escalated into a chaotic street fight early Friday morning, resulting in one foreign man sustaining a head injury. Videos of the wild altercation in Soi VC quickly went viral on social media.
Dispute in Pratumnak Triggers Chase
According to initial police findings, the confrontation began with a heated verbal exchange on Pratumnak Road. The argument rapidly escalated, leading the involved parties to engage in a wild chase.
The pursuit concluded in Soi VC in Nong Prue, where the confrontation continued. Drivers of public transport and motorcycle taxis attempted to intervene but were drawn into the violence themselves.
Videos Show Street Fighting
The mobile phone videos, which were rapidly shared, clearly depicted Thai nationals and foreigners fighting in the middle of the road. Bystanders desperately tried to separate the enraged combatants.
The footage showed an uncontrolled brawl where punches were thrown indiscriminately. Eyewitnesses reported an increasingly heated and threatening atmosphere.
Injured Foreigner Taken to Station
When officers arrived at the scene around 4:00 AM, they found a foreign man with a head wound. He was taken to the Pattaya City Police Station, where paramedics provided initial treatment.
Immediately following the commotion, the foreign individuals involved were unable to provide clear statements. The police initially escorted them aside to calm down.
Witness Ben Filmed the Escalation
Ben, 31, captured a portion of the incident on his mobile phone. He recounted observing a fierce argument between a foreign woman and a man before the situation completely spiraled out of control.
As the group moved into Soi VC, open violence erupted there. Several motorcycle taxi drivers who intended to mediate were inadvertently pulled into the fight, Ben stated.
Police Reviewing Cameras and Cause
Officers have interrogated all involved parties and secured extensive video material. Recordings from surveillance cameras along the entire route of the confrontation are now being evaluated.
It remains unclear who is responsible for the injuries sustained. The police announced that legal action would be initiated once the cause of the dispute is thoroughly clarified.
