PATTAYA, Thailand – A 15-year-old boy was tragically killed on Thursday evening after being caught by a pile driver at a luxury construction site in Pattaya. The teenager had been assisting his stepfather with work when the machine’s sling suddenly ensnared him and pulled him into the mechanism. Tragically, any attempt to help came too late for the youth.

Rescue teams from the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Rescue Center arrived at the construction site on Soi Thepprasit 7 around 5:16 PM. Workers stood in shock around the heavy pile driver, but none dared to approach the machine. Inside the base of the driver, rescuers discovered the lifeless body of the 15-year-old. The boy, identified by authorities only as “A,” had been caught by the machine’s sling and pulled into the equipment.

The 29-year-old stepfather, Kantapol, and the boy’s 44-year-old mother, Wiphawadee, were found in a state of extreme distress nearby. The parents were overcome with grief and on the verge of collapse as rescue workers carefully recovered the body. The remains were covered with a white cloth and removed from the scene. Both parents were subsequently taken to a local hospital for medical attention and psychological support.

The stepfather recounted the final moments, stating, “We were finishing work for the day, and my son offered to help remove the battery terminals. He said he wanted to assist me.” Kantapol appeared visibly shaken by the event. He further explained, “I don’t know why he climbed onto the platform of the pile driver, but the sling suddenly caught him and pulled him into the base of the machine.” The man immediately called emergency services, but help arrived too late for his stepson.

Police Chief Anek Sathongyu has ordered a thorough investigation into the incident. Investigators, led by Lieutenant Colonel Thanathip Jitari, are tasked with meticulously analyzing the crime scene, interviewing witnesses, and questioning all parties involved in the project. The police aim to determine whether the event was a tragic accident or if negligence played a role. It remains unclear whether the 15-year-old was officially employed at the construction site or was present on a personal visit.
