Pattaya Homeless Problem

Business owners express concern over homeless individuals occupying beaches and public spaces at night.

PATTAYA, Thailand – Business owners in Pattaya are sounding the alarm: Homeless individuals are commandeering the famous beach and public squares as sleeping quarters. A nighttime inspection revealed a scene that is alarming tourists and prompting urgent calls for action from the authorities.

Nighttime Inspection on Pattaya Beach

Late on the evening of June 15, 2026, reporters traversed Pattaya Beach, Second Road, and other central tourist areas. A sample check in the Nong Prue subdistrict highlighted a significant problem.

Numerous individuals without permanent housing were observed resting and sleeping scattered across the beach. These very locations, which attract vacationers by day, were serving as makeshift shelters by night.

Sleeping Spots on Benches and the Beach

Some of the homeless individuals had turned public benches into improvised beds. Others spread out cloths and their belongings directly on the beach to protect themselves from the nightly dew.

Onlookers noted individuals sleeping shirtless in areas typically used by tourists for relaxation, dining, and socializing. These sights did not go unnoticed by passersby.

Business Owners Sound the Alarm

Owners of shops and restaurants are watching this development with concern. They fear for the hard-earned tourism image of the coastal city and see an acute need for intervention.

The business proprietors are therefore urging the responsible authorities to intervene quickly. This is seen as the only way to prevent lasting damage to Pattaya’s reputation among travelers.
