PHUKET, Thailand – British professional boxer Colin Cairney is in a coma after a terrifying incident on a Thai holiday island.
An evening on the Thai holiday island ended in absolute horror for British professional boxer Colin Cairney (29). After an argument over the fare, he fell from a moving red tuk-tuk, hitting his head on the asphalt. He is now in a coma while police are searching for the driver who simply drove away.

Rettungskräfte were called to The Nature Hotel on Phra Baramee Road early Saturday morning. Near Khalaim Beach, they found the unconscious boxer with severe head injuries.
Paramedics immediately began emergency treatment and transported the 29-year-old to Patong Hospital. His injuries were so severe that he was later transferred to the intensive care unit at Vachira Phuket Hospital.

Initially, Patong Police investigated the possibility of an assault. However, CCTV footage from the area revealed a different, shocking sequence of events.
The cameras documented Cairney falling from the back of a red tuk-tuk and hitting the road brutally. The driver did not stop, continuing towards Patong and leaving the severely injured man behind.

Further investigations revealed Cairney was on Phuket with relatives and friends. He had visited an entertainment venue and took a tuk-tuk back to his accommodation shortly after 4 a.m.
An argument over the fare escalated in front of the hotel. Cairney had no cash and unsuccessfully tried to borrow money from hotel staff. The driver eventually agreed to take him to a nearby ATM.

Hotel security later noticed a red tuk-tuk, appearing identical, driving past the hotel grounds again. It did not stop to drop off the passenger. Cameras captured the vehicle rolling back towards Patong around 4:02 a.m.
At that moment, Cairney was still in the back of the tuk-tuk. Moments later, he fell out and struck the ground with full force. Paramedics fought for his life, but his condition rapidly deteriorated.
