PATTAYA, Thailand – Authorities have cracked down on Pattaya Beach, seizing illegally set up beach mats and chairs in a raid targeting vendors who were commercially using public beach areas without permits. The city administration aims to prevent the gradual privatization of the beach.
Raid on Thailand’s Most Famous Coast
Units from the Pattaya City Enforcement Office, joined by special task forces, conducted operations along a section of the beach. They specifically targeted individuals who had placed mats, sun loungers, and other items on public land for rental to tourists.
Officials described the problem as persistent, noting that authorities are dealing with the daily misuse of public spaces by repeat offenders. The violations are often not immediately apparent and tend to spread insidiously.
Fight Against Gradual Privatization
Those responsible issued a stark warning about the consequences of inaction. They stated that if intervention did not occur today, public beach areas could be permanently lost for private use. This would block access for both locals and holidaymakers.

Confiscated Goods Head to Storage
All confiscated equipment was removed and taken directly to the Pattaya City Enforcement Office for storage. The items will remain there until legal proceedings are concluded and appropriate fines are issued.
