US Man’s Hotel Rampage

American arrested twice after destroying property and assaulting staff in Chon Buri hotels.

CHON BURI, THAILAND – An American man allegedly caused extensive damage to two hotels, physically assaulted a receptionist, and evaded authorities twice in the province of Chon Buri.

Return After House Ban Ends in Chaos

Pennapa, a hotel receptionist, immediately recognized the man, identified as Alexander, who was on the establishment’s blacklist due to previous disruptive behavior. On the morning of June 9, he appeared at the reception desk demanding to extend his stay, having already paid online.

Receptionist Reports Strangulation Attack

When Pennapa denied his request and directed him to the booking service for a refund, Alexander allegedly became enraged. He reportedly grabbed her mobile phone and threw it to the ground, causing it to shatter. The hotel employee further described the man’s extremely aggressive physical advances and an attempted attack from which she narrowly escaped.

Destruction and Vile Insults

The outburst continued in the reception area, with Alexander reportedly demolishing furniture and fixtures. He hurled insults, alternating between Thai and English. Later released video footage showed a man gesturing aggressively as he moved through the hotel.

Arrest and a Brief Return to Freedom

Police who responded to the scene arrested Alexander. At the station, he agreed to pay 10,000 baht for the damaged phone, claiming he only needed to withdraw the cash from a bank. He then left the police station and never returned, according to Pennapa.

Second Arrest After Chase

Later the same day, Alexander reappeared at the hotel, insistent on returning to his former room. Staff immediately alerted the police again. This time, Alexander attempted to flee, but officers apprehended him after a pursuit outside the hotel premises. The compensation for the phone was never paid.

Destroyed Hotel Gate and Unclear Penalty

Pennapa also brought to light a previous incident where Alexander allegedly damaged a gate at another nearby hotel after having breakfast there without being a guest. Pennapa stated she is unaware of the final legal consequences the American will face. Her knowledge of imposed penalties concluded with the police processing the case.
