PHUKET, Thailand – A foreign woman caused a significant disturbance at Surin Beach, leading to her arrest by police.
An uncontrolled and aggressive spectacle unfolded on the streets of Surin Beach, involving a foreign woman who was observed naked and shouting. The woman reportedly entered a massage business and became aggressive towards bystanders.
Officers from the Cherng Talay Police apprehended the woman on June 10. The incident occurred along Srisoonthorn Road, near the popular tourist spot.
Naked and Unhinged at Surin Beach
The woman was seen completely nude, moving erratically through the streets and exhibiting increasingly aggressive behavior. She moved uncontrollably along the roadway, shouting incoherently.
Subsequently, she stormed into a massage establishment, creating chaos within. Staff members and a foreign man present attempted to cover her with a towel, but she repeatedly removed it.
Video Sparks Online Outrage
A Facebook user captured the scene on video and shared it online with an accompanying hashtag. The clip rapidly disseminated, drawing widespread criticism.
Many online commenters questioned the motive behind filming and publicly shaming a distressed individual instead of offering discreet assistance.
Attacks on Passersby and Cars?
The individual who posted the video claimed the woman was alone and appeared heavily intoxicated. He stated she disrupted several local businesses and attempted to attack people.
According to his account, she displayed restless behavior and reportedly struck parked vehicles. Local residents eventually alerted the authorities.
Police Bring Situation Under Control
Cherng Talay Police officers and relevant authorities responded to the scene. They successfully gained control of the situation and took the woman into custody.
The woman was transported directly to the Cherng Talay police station. Investigators are now examining the reasons behind her behavior, considering factors such as alcohol, drugs, or potential mental health issues.
Fine of Up to 5,000 Baht Looms
Legally, the case will be reviewed under Section 388 of the Thai Penal Code. Individuals appearing nude in public or engaging in indecent exposure can face a fine of up to 5,000 Baht.
If allegations of assaulting others or damaging property are confirmed, additional charges such as assault or property damage could be applied. The police have not yet stated whether charges will be filed.
Not the First Outburst in Phuket
Just in May, a British man caused a stir in Phuket after slashing motorcycle seats and damaging a shop sign with a knife. That incident also required police intervention.
Investigations are ongoing in the current case. The woman remains at the station while officers determine the potential consequences she faces.
