NONG KHAE, SARABURI – A 60-year-old man shot a mother and her 15-year-old daughter in their rented room on the morning of June 8, 2026, before taking his own life. Neighbors heard the shots and helped the victims, who managed to walk 70 meters to the alley entrance to seek assistance. As police surrounded the shooter’s room and attempted to persuade him to surrender, the man shot himself. Rejected affection towards the teenager is believed to be the motive behind the attack.
Three Shots, Then the Shooter Barricaded Himself
Around 8:10 AM, the emergency call reached the Nong Khae police station. A shooting had occurred in a long, narrow apartment complex with rooms facing each other. The 60-year-old perpetrator, identified as Prayong, entered the room of Mrs. Bussaba, 45, and her daughter (15), and fired shots at them. He then fled to his own room directly opposite, locking himself inside, while neighbors rushed to aid the victims.
Mother and Daughter Rescued
Following the gunshots, residents did not hesitate. They assisted the injured woman and the girl, helping them travel approximately 70 meters to the entrance of the alley. There, they sought further help and brought the two to Nong Khae Hospital. Bussaba and her 15-year-old daughter sustained gunshot wounds and received medical treatment.
Police Surround Room, Perpetrator Remains Silent
The first officers arrived quickly at the scene but did not attempt an immediate entry. Prayong was armed and had locked the door to his room. Neighbors later described what must have unfolded in the months leading up to the incident. According to them, Prayong, originally from Chai Nat and employed as a gardener in an industrial park, had been living alone in the rental complex with his own daughter for a year. Neighbors stated that he had taken an interest in the 15-year-old from the opposite room and repeatedly offered her financial support. If she asked for 100 baht, he gave her 100; if she demanded 1,000, he provided 1,000. Mrs. Bussaba also lived in the complex solely with her daughter.

The situation escalated when the teenager found a boyfriend her own age. Prayong reportedly could not tolerate this and began to harbor resentment.
