Lottery Ticket Dispute

Woman claims winning ticket stolen by neighbor amid conflicting accounts

SUKHOTHAI, THAILAND – A supposed premium lottery ticket has vanished, igniting a dispute between a buyer and a neighbor.

N.S. Sayan, 54, claims she left the winning ticket with her neighbor for checking; the neighbor insists he returned all three tickets. Police in Sawankhalok have filed a report and are gathering evidence. The conflict centers on a lottery ticket allegedly worth the first prize, creating a tense situation in the local community.

Three Tickets, 300 Baht – and Photos as Proof

According to reports, Sayan purchased three lottery tickets on the morning of June 1, 2026, from a street vendor in Tambon Pak Nam, having pre-ordered them the previous evening. The tickets were stapled together and cost a total of 300 Baht.

The stall owner, retired official R.T.A. Charan Phumpuang, confirmed the sale and stated he had taken photos of the tickets before the sale. The ticket numbers provided were 579015, 173770, and 265873.

Checking at the Neighbor’s – First Jubilation, Then Doubt

After the official results were announced around 7:00 PM, Sayan brought the tickets to a neighbor for verification. According to Sayan, initial reports indicated a win, and the neighbor reportedly embraced her. Sayan left the checked ticket there and did not take it home.

However, the following morning, the neighbor stated that all three tickets were reported as “not winning” and that he had returned them to Sayan immediately. He recounted that he then crumpled and discarded his own non-winning tickets.

The Middle Ticket is Missing – Daughter Confirms the Gap

When Sayan received the tickets back, she claims the middle ticket, number 173770, was missing; only tickets 579015 and 265873 were found. Sayan’s 32-year-old daughter, N.S. Pornphan, confirmed that only two tickets were returned.

Sayan later searched a trash bin for the missing ticket but could not find it. The claims of Sayan and the neighbor directly contradict each other regarding the whereabouts of the suspected winning ticket.

Police Gather Witness Statements and Evidence

A report was filed at the Saph. Sawankhalok Police Station. Police Chief Pol. Col. Nikhom Phromphiram stated that officers are examining the statements of all parties involved and collecting evidence, such as the photos from the ticket seller. The case is currently in the investigation stage.
