PATONG, THAILAND – A tuk-tuk driver allegedly became unconscious after a coffee sample and was subsequently robbed, with suspicions pointing to a woman incapacitating him with a substance; police are reviewing surveillance footage and have ordered blood tests while the victim receives hospital treatment.

According to police, the tuk-tuk driver, Somnuek, picked up a female passenger on June 4th around 9:00 PM. He drove her to Karon and later returned her to the vicinity of Kalim School in Patong. The woman then offered him coffee, stating she intended to open a business and required a taste sample. Shortly after drinking it, Somnuek reportedly began feeling drowsy and lost consciousness.

When he regained consciousness, his gold chain and gold bracelet, weighing approximately five baht, were missing. The estimated value of these items exceeds 300,000 Baht. His mobile phone was also gone after the incident. The driver reported the loss of several valuable possessions.

A distress call was received by the Patong Police at 5:47 AM on June 5th. Officers stated that passers-by found the disoriented man near the tuk-tuk stand at Kalim Beach and transported him to Patong Hospital. Police Lieutenant Sakwanat Damcha-om took a statement from the victim, who police reported remains in a confused state.

The Patong Police are reviewing CCTV footage from the area to identify the alleged perpetrator. The woman was described as a Thai national wearing a hat. Authorities have also ordered blood tests to determine if and what substance may have incapacitated the driver.
