Thief Steals Cannabis as Employee Sleeps

A brazen daylight theft in Krabi's Ao Nang district was caught on camera while the sole employee napped on a sofa.

KRABI, THAILAND – A brazen thief walked into a cannabis shop in broad daylight and helped himself while the employee slept soundly on a sofa, completely unaware.

Employee Napped – Thief Struck Coldly

The incident occurred on 27 April at a shop in the Ao Nang district. A surveillance camera captured everything: in the afternoon, a foreign man entered the store.

An employee was dozing on a sofa. The unknown man examined the display, picked up a small plastic tube containing a cannabis roll.

Hesitated at First – Then Hid in Pants

The man looked around, spotted the camera, and briefly put the item back. Seconds later, he grabbed it again and quickly stuffed the tube into his shorts.

He then left the shop, only to return shortly afterward and creep behind the sales counter. He wanted to see if anyone else was in the room.

Perpetrator Buys a Lighter and Flees

When the owner arrived, the thief changed tactics. He pretended to browse with interest and bought a lighter.

After that, he disappeared from the shop for good. The owner later warned other shops in the area and made the video footage public.

Sleeping Employee Faces Mockery Online

On social media, the clip drew scorn. Many users criticized the sleeping employee, who was fast asleep during working hours.

The owner stated that the employee had been warned. Whether the suspected thief would be reported remained open. The unknown man is clearly recognizable in the images.

Not an Isolated Case: Series of Cannabis Thefts

Similar incidents have occurred multiple times in Phuket. In January, a shop owner and bystanders attacked a Pakistani man who tried to flee with a glass of cannabis.

The man apparently acted with a group that distracted the staff. As early as May last year, a tourist grabbed something while his companions engaged the employees in conversation.

Who Is More to Blame – Thief or Sleeper?

A daring daylight robbery – and no one stopped the perpetrator because the only employee was fast asleep. The owner is left with the loss and the online embarrassment.

What do you think: Does the sleeping employee share the blame for the theft? Or does only the act of the brazen thief count? Tell us your honest opinion – right here in the comments.
