SURAT THANI, THAILAND – A 39-year-old man allegedly opened fire on a moving car in Surat Thani province, injuring two people before fleeing the scene.
Shots fired at moving vehicle
The incident occurred on a road leading toward the city center in Makham Tia district. Apiradee Limsuwan, 37, was traveling in a Honda with Phatsakorn Thongphat when another vehicle pulled alongside and the driver fired several shots.
According to investigators, the suspected shooter was identified as Anusorn, Apiradee’s former husband. Both occupants of the Honda were injured and then drove themselves to a hospital in Surat Thani.
Two injured, hospital treatment underway
Phatsakorn Thongphat sustained a gunshot wound to the upper body. Apiradee Limsuwan was also injured and received medical treatment upon arrival at the hospital.
Both victims remained under inpatient care, and details of their exact condition were not available at the time of reporting. The treating doctors did not make any public statements on the status of their treatment.
Suspect on the run as manhunt expands
After the shooting, Anusorn fled the scene in his vehicle. Police secured evidence at the site and reviewed surveillance camera footage from the surrounding area, and an arrest warrant was requested.
The search extended across the entire Surat Thani province. Authorities called on the public to report any suspicious observations, and police said they were accepting information on the suspect’s possible whereabouts.
Weapon under investigation
The specific type of firearm used in the attack was still under investigation. Forensic officers examined the victims’ vehicle for ballistic traces, but results were not available by the time the article went to press.
According to authorities, several criminal charges were under consideration against the suspect, including attempted homicide and illegal use of a firearm. The case was being handled by police in Surat Thani.
