BANGKOK, THAILAND – A 31-year-old Thai woman accused a Chinese national of holding and assaulting her in a Bangkok condominium, prompting a police investigation involving CCTV and immigration controls.
Complaint and background to the acquaintance
The woman, identified as Pimphilai, gave an additional statement at Hua Mak Police Station on 18 April. The case had previously come to light via a Thai social media page and referred to an incident at a condominium in Ramkhamhaeng 24.
According to her account, she had known the suspect for four to five months. She said he had repeatedly hired her for entertainment work during that time and that there had been no conflicts.
Timeline: invitation and dispute in Pattaya
She stated that on 6 April the man asked her to stay at the condominium and later invited her to Pattaya. On the evening of 9 April, they went out together and returned late at night.
When she wanted to go home, she called a friend. The suspect allegedly recorded and translated the call and then argued with her because he believed she intended to leave earlier than agreed.
Allegations of hours-long assault
According to the complaint, the alleged attack began at about 5:30 a.m. and continued until around 9:00 a.m. She described serious physical assault and unlawful detention that made it impossible for her to leave the room.
She further stated that during the incident the man appeared to be under the influence of some substances. Another person was said to have been present in the room but did not intervene.
Hospital treatment and initial official response
After the incident, she was taken by the suspect to a hospital, where she received treatment. She then filed a formal complaint with the police.
Pimphilai voiced concerns about how the case was being handled and said that mediation had been proposed. She reported that the compensation offered by the suspect fell far short of covering her medical expenses.
Call for protection and prosecution
She said she still did not feel safe and requested protective measures from the authorities. She urged the police to pursue the case rigorously.

Investigation: summons, CCTV and immigration checks
Hua Mak police involved the Immigration Bureau to monitor the suspect. According to officers, he remained in Thailand and showed no signs of attempting to leave the country.
Investigators were securing CCTV footage and questioning witnesses. A summons for the suspect was being prepared, and if drug use were confirmed, additional charges would be considered.
Separately, officers at Suvarnabhumi Airport arrested another suspect in an unrelated case, who was accused of assaulting a woman in Phuket and of theft.
