Pattaya, Thailand – Songkran celebrations turned Soi 6 off Pattaya Beach Road into a sprawling water party zone as tourists and bar operators joined forces for the festive kickoff.
Songkran kickoff energises Soi 6
The first day of the Songkran festivities on 12 April brought noticeably more energy to Soi 6 in Pattaya. From the outset, visitors and bar operators launched full-scale water battles along the busy side street.
The road, known as one of the city’s most popular nightlife strips, attracted particularly large crowds at the start of the holiday period. This turned Soi 6 once again into a central gathering point during Songkran.
From nightlife strip to “splash zone”
Along Pattaya Beach Road, Soi 6 quickly transformed into a lively water zone. Thai and international guests took part in equal measure, reflecting the festival’s broad appeal.
Armed with water pistols, revellers packed the street and created a colourful, noisy atmosphere. Passers-by also stopped to watch and were drawn into the unfolding scene.
Tourist magnet lined with beer bars
Soi 6 is known for its high concentration of beer bars and attracted many tourists during Songkran. This was evident on the first day of the festival, when the street filled up rapidly.
For many visitors, the area formed a fixed part of their plans when celebrating in Pattaya. The mix of nightlife and street festivities made the location particularly eye-catching during the holidays.
Bar operators boost the party mood
Not only tourists but also business owners took an active part in the water games. Their involvement created a shared sense of celebration that further lifted the mood.

Festivities run until 19 April, climax with Wan Lai
The celebrations along Soi 6 were scheduled to continue daily until 19 April. This stretched the programme over several consecutive days of festivities.
The finale was set to be Pattaya’s Wan Lai, one of the most anticipated extensions of the Songkran festival. The event was regarded as a special highlight of the local celebrations.
