BANGKOK, THAILAND – A white Lexus caught fire and burned out completely on a city-bound motorway in the early hours, leaving one woman slightly injured while the cause remained under investigation.
Early-morning fire alarm
At 03:08 a.m. on 14 April 2026, an emergency call about a vehicle fire was received via the 199 hotline. The incident occurred near Soi Motorway 38 on Motorway Road at kilometre 6+400 in Bangkok’s Prawet district.
Emergency services reported that the burning vehicle was located on a busy stretch of the motorway heading towards the city. Initial information indicated that no other vehicles were directly involved in the blaze.
Fire brigade deployed
Crews from the Prawet fire and rescue station drove to the scene immediately after the alert. On arrival, they confirmed a car was on fire on the multi-lane expressway.
Firefighters began tackling the blaze using water to bring the flames under control. The work was carried out under active traffic conditions on the motorway.
Flames on the left lane
The fire broke out on a four-lane carriageway in the direction of Bangkok, affecting the left-hand lane. The vehicle on fire was a white Lexus with Bangkok licence plates.
Flames and heat were intense enough to pose a risk to traffic in the adjacent lanes. Authorities focused on keeping vehicles at a safe distance while the fire was being extinguished.
Fire under control in about 15 minutes
Fire crews needed around 15 minutes to bring the blaze under control using water. Due to the strong heat, the vehicle burned out completely and was left as a charred wreck.
No further damage to surrounding infrastructure was reported at the scene. The burnt-out car remained on the lane until it could be removed by recovery teams.
Woman slightly injured
According to initial information, a woman suffered minor injuries in the incident. She received first aid at the scene from emergency responders.
There were no immediate reports of other injuries linked to the fire. Authorities did not release further personal details about the injured woman.
Recovery and clearing of the carriageway
Once the fire was extinguished, the burnt-out vehicle was quickly removed from the affected lane. The aim was to reopen the lane and prevent further danger to traffic.
