Heat and Storm Risk for Pattaya Coast

Thai forecasters warned of early-summer heat, isolated storms and rougher seas in the Gulf of Thailand

PATTAYA, THAILAND – Thailand’s national weather agency forecast hot days and isolated thunderstorms across large parts of the country, with Pattaya facing temperatures of up to 37 degrees and a risk of higher waves at sea during storms.

Early summer heat along the Eastern Seaboard

Along the Eastern Seaboard, including Chonburi and Pattaya, daytime conditions were expected to remain hot while nights stayed relatively warm.

On Pattaya Beach Road, tourists already sought shade in the afternoon, cooled down with cold drinks or used wet towels to cope with the sun.

TMD forecast – thunderstorms remain possible

According to the latest 24-hour forecast from the Thai Meteorological Department (TMD), northern Upper Thailand remained hot during the day, while isolated thunderstorms could still develop.

The agency cited weak high-pressure influences from China extending into the northeast and over the South China Sea, which altered regional wind patterns.

Ten percent chance of rain – several provinces in focus

For the eastern region, the weather service expected hot conditions with a thunderstorm probability of around 10 percent.

Individual areas in Prachinburi, Chonburi, Rayong, Chanthaburi and Trat could be affected, according to the forecast.

Temperatures up to 37 degrees – winds from the east

Minimum temperatures in the region were forecast at 23 to 27 degrees Celsius in the early morning, rising to 33 to 37 degrees in the afternoon.

Easterly winds of 15 to 30 km/h were expected, which could make the heat slightly more bearable locally, while still bringing in dry, warm air.

Gulf of Thailand – waves rise quickly during storms

On the Gulf of Thailand, waves were generally forecast at around one meter in height.

Near thunderstorms, however, sea conditions could become significantly rougher, with waves of over two meters possible, prompting warnings for seafarers and operators of small boats to navigate with particular caution and avoid storm zones.

Dust and haze – situation stays moderate for now

Dust and haze levels in Upper Thailand remained low to moderate, according to the weather agency.

The TMD attributed this to generally good air circulation, which dispersed pollutants and fine particles instead of trapping them near the ground for extended periods.
