SISAKET, THAILAND – A 28-year-old woman was shot dead and her boyfriend seriously injured in a suspected relationship killing in Phrai Bueng district.
Police alerted around 8 p.m.
Shortly after 8 p.m., police received reports of gunfire at a single-storey concrete house in Moo 5 in the Phrai Bueng subdistrict. Officers from Phrai Bueng police station and rescue workers arrived at the property and found two injured people in the rear kitchen area.
The scene was secured while emergency responders provided first aid. Neighbours had alerted authorities after hearing multiple shots from the house.
Woman dies, man taken to hospital
The 28-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Rescue workers transported the 33-year-old man to the emergency department of a nearby hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound.
Police identified him as a businessman from Khun Han district who operated a tipper truck. He was treated as a suspect in the case while remaining under medical care.
Forensic work at the crime scene
Investigators recovered a modified blank-firing pistol and several spent cartridges in the kitchen area. Forensic technicians documented the distribution of traces and collected evidence.
The property was cordoned off. Specialists took samples for gunshot residue tests and lifted fingerprints from the weapon and from surfaces around the crime scene.
Reconstruction of bullet trajectories under way
Alongside the forensic work, investigators began reconstructing the positions of those involved at the time of the shots. The aim was to clarify the exact sequence of events.
Police stressed that the order of the shots had not yet been conclusively established and that the investigation was ongoing. Officers said they were working to piece together a detailed timeline of the incident.
Father describes years of conflict
Suraphong Wannathong, the victim’s father, told reporters at the scene that the relationship had been strained for years. The couple had a two-year-old son who was in the house at the time of the shooting.
“The man showed extreme jealousy and there were regular arguments. He even threatened to kill the entire family if there was a separation.”
said Suraphong Wannathong, father of the victim.
Dispute over wedding visit as trigger
According to the father, his daughter had wanted to attend a close friend’s wedding on the evening of the shooting. The boyfriend allegedly refused, and the argument escalated.
A friend of the victim told police that shortly beforehand, the 28-year-old had phoned her about persistent calls from the man and a threat that he would follow her to the wedding.
Previous complaint and ongoing investigation
The same friend also reported that the couple had separated once years earlier after an alleged incident involving a weapon. At that time, a complaint was said to have been filed with police.
Police said they were currently treating the case as a relationship-related offence and continuing their investigation. The suspect remained under medical treatment and was to be questioned as soon as his condition allowed.
