PATTAYA, THAILAND – A 53-year-old landlord in Banglamung was arrested after he allegedly injured a motorcycle mechanic with a samurai-style weapon following a dispute over a brake repair.
Dispute over brake pad change sparked confrontation
According to police, the incident took place on 2 March 2026 at about 10:30 p.m. in a row-house complex in Soi Nong Yai 8. The 24-year-old mechanic Nopparit Sae Muang had rented a room in the building.
The suspect, Anucha Bunthaworn, also known by the nickname Bang Cha, was reportedly angry about the outcome of a brake repair. His son’s motorcycle was still jerking after a brake pad change and the braking performance remained unsatisfactory.
Attack in the mechanic’s rented room
When the mechanic tried to retreat to his room, the suspect followed him inside, investigators said. There, Anucha allegedly struck him with a samurai-like bladed weapon, and the injured man later received medical treatment.
During a subsequent interrogation, Anucha stated that he had hit the victim with the flat side of the blade. Police said they were assessing this claim as part of the ongoing investigation.
Second incident captured on camera the next day
On 3 March at about 8:30 p.m., the man returned to the premises in a Nissan NV pickup and confronted the workshop owner, again holding the weapon. Surveillance cameras recorded his aggressive behaviour.
According to police, Anucha threatened to terminate the lease and remove the workshop from the property. The video footage was secured as evidence.
Arrest and seizure of weapon
Officers from Banglamung Police Station arrested Anucha on 4 March at about 4:30 p.m. The inquiry was led by Pol. Lt. Col. Yongyuth Wan Nuea and Pol. Lt. Col. Wuttipong Kasa.
As evidence, police seized a bladed weapon about one metre long, which was believed to have been used in both incidents.
Confession and admission of drug use
In questioning, Anucha admitted to the attack. He said he had been angry about the repair and further provoked by what he considered a disrespectful response from the mechanic.
He also confessed to using crystal methamphetamine, locally known as “Ice”, and attributed his loss of control to the influence of the drug.
Landlord role and legal consequences
The suspect is also the owner of the land on which the workshop employing the mechanic is located. The workshop stands only a few metres from the site of the first attack.
Police were preparing charges of serious bodily harm as well as illegal possession and use of Category 1 narcotics. The accused was handed over to investigators for further legal proceedings.
