BANGKOK, THAILAND – The Metropolitan Waterworks Authority assured residents of a stable tap water supply through 2026, despite the onset of the dry season.

MWA governor Suwara Tawichsri said usable water volumes in the major reservoirs in northern and western Thailand were currently higher than in the previous year. This, he stated, allowed uninterrupted production of tap water for Bangkok, Nonthaburi and Samut Prakan.
At the same time, he emphasized that the risk of saltwater intrusion into water resources was currently low. According to the agency, the quality of raw water therefore met the standards required for a stable supply across all service areas.

To secure long-term supply reliability, the Metropolitan Waterworks Authority reported close cooperation with the Office of the National Water Resources (ONWR) and the Royal Irrigation Department. The agencies coordinated their work with a focus on maintaining sufficient raw water for tap water production.
At the centre of these efforts was the exchange of real-time data and forward-looking management of water resources. The MWA said this approach was intended to ensure that tap water supply remained reliable even in critical phases of the dry season.

Tawichsri stressed that the current situation was encouraging but that responsible use of water by the public remained essential.
“The situation is positive, but careful water use by residents continues to play a decisive role,”
said Suwara Tawichsri, MWA governor.
Residents in the affected provinces were urged to regularly check household pipes and fittings and repair leaks immediately to avoid unnecessary losses. The MWA highlighted that even small household measures could significantly reduce overall consumption.

The authority also called on the public to promptly report leaking or burst pipes in public areas to the MWA Call Center 1125, which operated around the clock. The aim was to minimize water losses in the network and maintain stable pressure.
Incidents could alternatively be reported via the MWA onMobile app or the official Line account @MWAthailand. The agency said it would respond quickly to such reports and reaffirmed its commitment to the sustainable management of water resources.
