SRIRACHA, THAILAND – A 14-year-old student from Nong Kham subdistrict was treated in Somdet Phra Borom Ratchathewi Na Si Racha Hospital after a fall from a school building that authorities said was linked to a call center fraud case.
Visit by authorities at the hospital
The head of Sriracha District, Phattharachanun Phongphat, visited the girl in hospital on 26 February 2026 together with staff from the district health office, subdistrict administrations, security officials and the local Red Cross branch.
During the visit, representatives handed over financial support from the Sriracha District Community Development Fund (PCho) and from the local Red Cross group, along with care packages and words of encouragement for her recovery.
Condition of the injured student
The student, referred to in the report only as “Miss A” and described as a volleyball player at a school in Nong Kham subdistrict, had fallen from a school building and was injured.
According to Dr. Somyot Loetjindapong, deputy director of Somdet Phra Borom Ratchathewi Na Si Racha Hospital, she suffered a mild brain hemorrhage and several injuries to her body, but her condition was stable and not life-threatening.
Doctors’ assessment and further care
Doctors reported that the girl was able to communicate normally, showed good mental health and exhibited no signs of stress or anxiety at that time.
She was expected to remain in inpatient care for about two more weeks, after which the Sriracha health office planned a home visit on 2 March 2026 to prepare the family for rehabilitation at home.
Investigation into the call center fraud
The incident drew wide attention because, according to authorities, the 14-year-old had been under considerable pressure after becoming the victim of a suspected call center fraud.
Investigators from the Region 2 Provincial Police reported progress and had identified and arrested the holder of a so-called “money mule” account through which fraud funds were allegedly routed.
Arrest of suspect and next steps
The suspect was transferred for further questioning to Nong Kham Police Station, which has jurisdiction over the affected school, and was expected to provide information on additional participants.
Police continued the investigation to identify and prosecute further members of the suspected criminal network, but withheld the detainee’s name, saying that publishing it could jeopardize ongoing operations against possible accomplices.
