PATTAYA, THAILAND – Authorities in Jomtien intensified measures against homeless people and beggars to maintain public order and safety for residents and tourists.
Coordinated sweep in Jomtien public areas
In a coordinated operation, the Jomtien Municipal Office worked with Pattaya City administration, Pattaya Police, the Chonburi Provincial Social Development and Human Security Office, Banglamung District officials and other agencies to check public areas in the Jomtien neighborhood. According to officials, the operation focused on vagrant and homeless individuals staying in heavily visited tourist zones.
Screenings and transfer to provincial shelter
During the checks, teams identified people in need of support and first conducted screenings to assess their condition and assistance needs. Individuals classified as particularly vulnerable were taken to the Chonburi Provincial Shelter for the Destitute and Homeless, where further care and support were to be provided.
Ongoing program for cleanliness and safety
City officials stated that the action formed part of an ongoing program to ensure cleanliness, order and safety across Pattaya. According to the authorities, this approach helped preserve the region’s appeal as a major tourist destination while not neglecting social considerations.
